Hoku Tozai Taikai 2025 Turku
Continuing our tradition of East meeting the West, a Taikai friendly competition, we invite you to join us in Turku on September 13–14, 2025.

- Participants: Kendo practitioners of all levels from Finland, Sweden, and neighbouring countries. Competitors range from children to adults.
Taikai Teams
- Team West: Swedish men’s national team, other Swedish players, and possible Nordic participants.
- Team East: Finnish national team ring members, other Finnish players, and Baltic participants.
Matches are fought in a friendly spirit at all levels from 6th kyu to 7th dan. Refereeing and officiating will also be practised.
Each participant is guaranteed 7 matches against opponents of similar level. The total points of each team will be counted — will East or West win?

Total: 7 h Taikai, 2.5 h seminar, and 2–3 h keiko/workshops.
Seminar Groups and Junior Focus
During the Saturday seminar in the morning, training will take place in groups, which depending on participant numbers will tentatively include: national team group, refereeing group, instructor-level group, and junior group.
During the Taikai sessions on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, participants will compete in group order starting from juniors, then lower and higher kyu levels, followed by lower and higher dan levels, and finally the instructor level.
Juniors will be supported during the seminar session, in their Taikai matches during the junior division, after the junior Taikai session, and in the special programme for young juniors held on Sunday afternoon.

- AllStar Dance Studio: For juniors, assistants, and adults (Fri–Sun). Address: Ratapihankatu 37, Turku. Lights out at 22:00.
- Rumbita Dance Studio: For adults (Sat–Sun). Address: Vähäheikkiläntie 55, Turku.
